Portals: Adding Value to our Clients Experience
Do you know how unsecure e-mails really are? E-mail communications are usually plain text transmissions over unsecured channels, passing through many gateways on their way to delivery. Thus, the interception of unencrypted e-mail is not difficult to perform and can result in identity theft. A number of states have already passed laws prohibiting firms from sending confidential information via unencrypted e-mail, and more are expected to follow.
Murphy & Murphy, CPA, LLC is taking the initiative now to offer the use of a free service called Portal. Portal is a convenient, electronic storage space in which files can be effortlessly uploaded, downloaded and/or stored, while maximizing the security of sensitive information at no additional charge to you. Portal uses enhanced Data Encrypted Security and is only accessed using a set of credentials (username and password) that you create. You can access Portal through IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox. No additional software installation is necessary. You will be able to access copies of your tax returns, financial statements, signature forms, reports, etc. at the click of a button.
Portal will also enable you to send critical documents to your accountant such as Quickbooks files, Peachtree files, tax client organizers, and year end tax documents. If you needed, you can even allow your financial institutions, attorneys, brokers, etc. to access your financial documents. This can expedite your loan application process. You will experience unmatched convenience through instant secure access to your virtual client files anytime, anywhere. Murphy & Murphy, CPA, LLC recommends electronic file transfer. We prefer that you do not send personal/financial information to us via e-mail.
For businesses, we offer an add-on service called Client Area Portals that allows you to back up all of your data in a private, secure area. Murphy & Murphy, CPA, LLC cannot access this area - only you. Imagine the ability to save your critical business documents offsite in a safe storage area for disaster recovery purposes. There is a small annual fee for the use of these private Client Area Portals.
Get Started! Enrollment for Portal is simple! Here’s how:
Send an e-mail to firmadmin@murphycpallc.com and include:
- Name of person to access Portal
- E-mail address of person to access Portal
- Name of business (if applicable)
- Our IT Specialist will create your Portal and then e-mail you login information and the website address to access the Portal.
